RSL Throwback vid of the day! “Schizo Head”, one of my favorites cause of the editing I did and to me it shows schizophrenia perfectly.
I see people here on Tumblr are talking about the most disgusting thing they ever saw.
I honestly can’t think of the most disgusting thing I have seen but I know what the most disgusting thing I ever smelled was…
4 years ago
For the most part my schizophrenia causes visual hallucinations and light audio ones. I knew that smell ones existed but as far as I knew I had never experienced them. And of all the stuff to hallucinate smells seemed like a walk in the park compared to the monsters i was used to. I had just had ECT treatments a few months before and was house sitting for a friend. I awoke to what felt like a hand soffocating me with the most retched smell in the world. I gasped for air but it consumed my lungs and crawled into my head. I stumbled out of bed and ran to the bathroom throwing up. Slowly the smell lifted. It came back a few more times that week. Ever since then I get them out of the blue. None have ever been as traumatic as that first.
Her: so you have schizophrenia?
Me: Yep.
Her: have you ever killed anybody?
Me: Not yet
Lately I’ve been noticing my speech seems to be deteriorating. I hear it when I talk out loud teaching modeling/acting classes. At first I thought I was just off one day but now every time I teach (4 classes a week) I find myself having to work harder on words. “Runway” and “Runway Room” are the hardest for me to say… and I say those things a lot. It comes out “unayoom” almost every time now.
Another tip off is that everyone keeps commenting on my southern accent. My accent used to only come out on southern words and when I was tired and my mind gets lazy. Now at least once a week someone says something about it… I think my mind is slacking so it’s coming out more.
I don’t know… just a kinda weird thing I’ve been noticing. If anyone has any info on the speech thing let me know.
Just watched a “20/20” about childhood schizo… I feel it was a terrible representation of schizophrenia.
The parents all seemed like enablers and were setting their kids up to fail as later being adults with mental disorders. Instead of helping their children truly learn to deal with having a mental disorder in the real world. I also felt the show was blowing normal childhood occurrences into big issues.
Great article I just found on MSN about making a crisis plan for schizophrenia:
I’m gonna do one. I have a very small one but nothing like this.
The sweetest comment anyone has ever posted on one of my videos. I like the “future” part.
